The Egyptian Actors' Syndicate Opens an Investigation with Abbas Abu Al-Hassan Regarding His 'Childbearing' Statements
The Egyptian Actors' Syndicate has entered the fray of the controversy surrounding the recent statements made by artist Abbas Abu Al-Hassan, in which he described childbearing as the "great sin". The syndicate received a legal warning demanding his expulsion and a substantial financial compensation.
This step came after the head of the Actors' Syndicate received an official warning from lawyer Ayman Mahfouz, who demanded "the expulsion of the artist and his referral for investigation, along with compensation amounting to one billion Egyptian pounds", considering that Abu Al-Hassan's statements "incited against childbearing and violated the law".
In response to these demands, the syndicate announced its official move. It confirmed in its statement that it "is closely monitoring the matter", emphasizing its "respect for the freedom of expression of artists", but at the same time "is committed to investigating any statements that may affect social values or violate laws".
The syndicate clarified in its response that it "will form an investigation committee to look into the matter", stating that "the artist will be heard before any decision is made", with "an emphasis on its commitment to transparency and consideration of the rights of all parties".
The syndicate also outlined the framework within which it will operate, stressing that "any disciplinary actions will be carried out in accordance with the laws and regulations governing the acting profession, balancing freedom of expression with professional responsibility". Its statement emphasized its "rejection of any practices that may harm social peace or undermine public trust in state institutions".
The syndicate concluded its statement by affirming that it "will announce the results of the investigation after completing all statements and testimonies", indicating that the process will take time to reach a final decision.
