Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research in Syria, Dr. Marwan Al-Halabi, met today, Monday, with a Turkish academic delegation led by Dr. Abu Bakr Jilan, the President of the Union of Academics and Writers for the Islamic World. The meeting discussed cooperation between Turkish and Syrian universities, student exchange programs, and the development of higher education in Syria. Minister Al-Halabi emphasized the importance of collaboration in quality assurance and accreditation bodies, forming special committees to enhance education quality, and improving the global ranking of Syrian universities. He also highlighted the challenges facing higher education in Syria, such as infrastructure deterioration, brain drain, funding shortages, and scientific isolation due to the previous regime. The Union delegation expressed the Turkish people's support for the Syrian people and stressed the importance of enhancing relations between Syrian and Turkish academics and intellectuals, academic and student exchanges, and the readiness of the Turkish government and the Union to assist in improving higher education in Syria and establishing joint Turkish language education centers. The meeting was attended by Dr. Mohammed Suyyed, Assistant Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research for Private Universities Affairs, and Dr. Nimir Issa, Director of Cultural Relations at the Ministry.
