Syrian Minister of Finance and Chairman of the General Authority for Customs discuss enhancing financial and customs coordination.

Syrian Minister of Finance, Mohammad Yasar Barnieh, and Qutaiba Badawi, the head of the General Authority for Land and Maritime Border Crossings, held a joint meeting at the Authority's headquarters to discuss several vital files related to developing financial and customs coordination mechanisms between both sides.
A statement published by the Authority on its "Telegram" channel stated that the meeting discussed "mechanisms for determining customs duties and reviewing the criteria for their calculation, ensuring a balance between supporting trade movement and preserving state resources."
The discussion also addressed "reviewing mechanisms for preparing monthly and annual budgets for the Authority, ways to improve financial performance, and enhance resource management efficiency," in addition to discussing ways to enhance coordination in customs policies and facilitate procedures at the crossings, in line with government directives aiming to "stimulate economic growth and achieve financial discipline."
Badawi emphasized "close cooperation with the Ministry of Finance," indicating "the Authority's full readiness to continue developing joint work tools that serve national interests and enhance the efficiency of the customs system."
The statement clarified that this meeting is part of a series of periodic meetings aimed at "enhancing institutional integration and developing coordination mechanisms between the entities concerned with financial and customs affairs in Syria."
