President Volodymyr Zelensky revealed on Thursday that he had spoken with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz during his visit to Berlin yesterday about the possibility of supplying Ukraine with German "Taurus" cruise missiles. The Ukrainian news portal "RBK" quoted Zelensky as saying: "We discussed the issue of Taurus missiles in a closed meeting with the German Chancellor," indicating that work is being done in this direction, but clarifying that both parties also agreed not to discuss this matter publicly in the future. Zelensky added that he will adhere to this commitment. Ukraine particularly lacks long-range weapons capable of destroying strategic military facilities deep inside Russia and disrupting Russian war logistics. So far, Ukraine has received "Javelin" missiles from the United States, and "Storm Shadow/Scalp" cruise missiles from Britain and France.
