Syrian Health Minister discusses with "Gavi" official enhancing support for essential vaccines in Syria.

Syrian Health Minister, Dr. Maysalun Ali, discussed with Veronique Mayoufa Vaj, responsible for the Syria file at the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (Gavi), ways to enhance cooperation to support the provision of essential vaccines in Syria.
The meeting, held on the sidelines of the 78th session of the World Health Assembly in Geneva, aimed to discuss mechanisms to expand national vaccination programs to ensure vaccine access to all target groups, especially children in the most vulnerable areas.
Minister Ali emphasized that "ensuring the continuous availability of vaccines is a priority in Syria's health work," pointing out "the logistical and technical challenges faced by the health sector due to exceptional circumstances."
Vaj expressed the alliance's "interest in continuing partnership with Syria," confirming "commitment to supporting national efforts to enhance vaccination coverage, improve cold chains, and prepare for any emergency response to pandemics."
Both parties agreed to continue technical and institutional coordination to ensure the stability and development of immunization programs in the country.
It is worth noting that the 78th session of the World Health Assembly commenced on May 19 under the theme "One World, One Health" and will continue until May 27.
