Syria participates for the first time in the international "ISO" conference in Rwanda

Today, the annual conference of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) commenced in the Rwandan capital, Kigali, with Syria participating for the first time in this important international event. The conference gathered leaders and representatives of standardization bodies from around the world to discuss emerging trends and challenges in the field of international standards, and their role in achieving global sustainable development goals.
Syria was represented at the conference by the Director General of the Syrian Arab Organization for Standards and Metrology, Yasser Aliwi, who held a series of bilateral meetings with heads and representatives of standardization bodies from several countries. During these meetings, ways to enhance joint cooperation and exchange experiences in the fields of accreditation, quality, and standard specifications were discussed.
Discussions focused on "the necessity of enhancing international cooperation in the fields of standardization and specifications, and exchanging technical expertise, with the aim of supporting industrial innovation and improving quality at the global level, and exploring collaborative solutions based on standards for the future".
This participation comes as an important step towards Syria's effective return to the international arena in the field of standardization, representing a new beginning for technical and technological cooperation with regional and global organizations. This step is also expected to contribute to "developing the national industry and enhancing the competitiveness of Syrian products in global markets".
This event marks Syria's first participation in the conference, reflecting its determination to enhance its position within the international work system in the fields of quality and specifications.
It is worth mentioning that the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is a non-governmental organization established in 1947, headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland.
