In the early hours of this Friday morning, a strong earthquake struck the Zavar area in Isfahan province in central Iran, with a magnitude of 5.3 on the Richter scale, occurring at a depth of 10 kilometers below the surface.
The tremor was felt by residents of the cities of Qom and Tehran, causing widespread concern in the Iranian capital.
The Iranian news agency "Tasnim" reported that the earthquake has not caused any injuries or significant damage so far, according to the Tehran emergency services.
Nevertheless, the impact was clearly felt in various areas of the city, with many residents experiencing the strong tremor.
Iran is one of the most earthquake-prone countries due to its location in an active tectonic zone between tectonic plates, making it susceptible to frequent seismic activity.
The deadliest earthquake in the country's history was the 1990 earthquake, which occurred in northwestern Iran and had a magnitude of 7.7 on the Richter scale, resulting in the deaths of approximately 37,000 people and injuring over 100,000 others.
Scientists continue to monitor seismic activity in the region, while authorities emphasize the need for safety measures and preparedness in the face of future earthquakes.
