Syria and Qatar Discuss Enhancing Customs and Digital Cooperation During Official Visit

As part of enhancing economic and brotherly relations, a high-level delegation from the Syrian General Authority for Land and Maritime Ports, headed by the Chairman of the Authority Qutaiba Badawi, discussed with the Chairman of the Qatar Customs Authority Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Jamal and several of his assistants, the prospects for joint cooperation in customs work and the adoption of modern digital technologies.
This came during an official visit by the Syrian delegation to the Qatari capital, Doha, where it was warmly welcomed, reflecting the depth of the ties between the two countries.
According to the statement issued by both sides, during the meeting, several main axes were agreed upon to enhance the partnership, the most important of which are: exchanging experiences between the two customs institutions, and benefiting from the advanced training programs provided by the Customs and Regional Training Center in Qatar, with the aim of qualifying Syrian personnel and raising their efficiency.
Both sides confirmed, during the visit which included the assistants to the Chairman of the Authority and the Director of International Relations from the Syrian side, the "depth of the brotherly relations between the two countries".
For his part, Chairman Qutaiba Badawi appreciated "the great efforts made by the sisterly State of Qatar, represented by the Qatar Customs Authority, in developing its customs system and opening up to cooperation with Arab countries".
Badawi also expressed his aspirations, saying: "I hope that this visit will contribute to opening new horizons for partnership and constructive work that serves the interests of the two brotherly countries".
It is noteworthy that this meeting comes as a continuation of the ongoing dialogue between the two countries, where the Chairman of the General Authority for Land and Maritime Ports Qutaiba Badawi had discussed with the Chargé d'Affaires of the Qatari Embassy in Damascus, Khalifa Abdullah Al Mahmoud, last June ways to develop the relationship between Syria and Qatar in the field of developing the infrastructure of land and maritime ports, and encouraging Qatari investments in the transportation and logistics sectors.
