Security cooperation between Syria and Jordan results in the seizure of one million drug pills and the dismantling of smuggling networks

In a move that reflects the increasing security coordination between Damascus and Amman, the drug enforcement administrations in Syria and Jordan announced on Sunday the thwarting of seven smuggling attempts across the shared border, and the seizure of about one million drug pills that were on their way for illegal promotion, along with the arrest of several individuals involved in those operations.

The joint statement, published via the Syrian Ministry of Interior's Telegram channel, indicated that field cooperation and the exchange of intelligence information between the two sides led to the dismantling of organized criminal networks involved in trafficking and smuggling, which posed a direct threat to the security of both countries and the region.

Both parties confirmed that drug enforcement is no longer just a security task, but has become a humanitarian and moral issue that requires the concerted efforts of regional and international stakeholders, emphasizing the continuation of joint work with determination and will to protect communities and safeguard the future of generations from this cross-border scourge.
