During his meeting with ministers, governors, and heads of public authorities today, Sunday, Syrian President Ahmad Al-Shara emphasized that one of the main factors that repels investors is competition in the market from government or influential entities, stressing the need to separate private investment from public responsibility.
He clarified that any old investments owned by government officials must be subject to state oversight and awareness, noting that meetings between officials and investors should take place exclusively in government offices to maintain transparency.
Regarding the reconstruction file, Al-Shara said that the state has chosen to rely on investment and donations instead of foreign aid, considering that the donations of Syrians represent a living model of sacrifice for the sake of rebuilding the homeland.
He confirmed that the funds collected from the provinces should be spent within them according to a unified plan, indicating that he suggested to the governor of Sweida to establish a special fund to collect donations for the province as an expression of national unity.
He added that calling on people to donate to Sweida represents a clear message of national cohesion, affirming that the voices calling for the separation of the province from Syria do not represent its people.
He praised the role of the people of Sweida in preserving the unity of the country in previous stages, noting that the wound that has affected the province needs time to heal, but it does not prevent it from participating in rebuilding the homeland anew.
