The Saudi Ministry of Defense announced today that it shot down a hostile drone while it was attempting to approach the Diplomatic Quarter in Riyadh, confirming that these attacks represent a serious escalation from Iran that threatens the stability of the region.

The ministry clarified that a previous attack on the same area caused minor material damage, with no injuries reported among civilians.

Previous Attempts by Iranian Drones

Iranian drones have previously targeted the Diplomatic Quarter in Riyadh, where the Saudi Ministry of Defense was able to thwart an attempt to target the diplomatic area with a drone, confirming that no material damage or injuries occurred.

Attack on the American Embassy

Earlier, Major General Turki Al-Maliki, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Defense, reported that the American embassy in the Diplomatic Quarter was attacked by two drones according to initial estimates, resulting in a limited fire and minor material damage to the building.

The Kingdom's Stance on Iranian Aggressions

Saudi Arabia reiterated that Iran's aggressions are a serious and unjustified escalation, and that its behaviors do not align with good neighborliness and do not serve the interests of peace.

Abdulaziz Al-Wasil, Saudi Arabia's Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York, highlighted in a speech that the continued hostile actions from Iran increase tensions, emphasizing that the Kingdom stresses that these behaviors make Iran bear the serious consequences of its escalation.
