Salma Hayek and Angelina Jolie in a New Film Revealing the Truth About Mexico

The famous Mexican actress Salma Hayek announced in Mexico City on Monday, February 16, 2026, that she is working on producing a new film aimed at correcting the "false" image of Mexico and responding to the attacks targeting her country.
Hayek explained during her participation in an event to support the film industry sponsored by the Mexican government, along with Claudia Sheinbaum, that this project holds "special importance at a time when we are under moral attack, and our image is being conveyed in a completely wrong way."
She added: "It is important to regain control of the narrative to say: this is Mexico, not what they are trying to sell you. This is who we are."
The film will be shot in Veracruz, Salma Hayek's birthplace, and Quintana Roo, in southeastern Mexico, and the title of the film has not yet been revealed.
Local media confirmed that the film will also feature American star Angelina Jolie, who visited some areas of Veracruz with Hayek in July 2025.
In a clear response to U.S. President Donald Trump's anti-immigrant policies, Salma Hayek expressed her solidarity with Latinx individuals in the United States and provided advice through her social media accounts regarding their rights in case they face raids by federal immigration agents.
The film comes at a sensitive time and serves as a strong message to re-narrate the image of Mexico to the world, both inside and outside the country.
