Roblox in 20 Years: From a Simple Idea to a Huge Virtual World

The Supreme Council for Media Regulation in Egypt announced yesterday, Sunday, the official ban of the game "Roblox", during a speech by Essam El Amir, Deputy Chairman of the Council, at the general session of the Senate, confirming coordination with the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority to implement the decision.
Egypt was not the only country to take this action, as several countries around the world preceded it, including Russia, China, Jordan, Iraq, Kuwait, and Turkey, amid rising concerns about the safety of children and teenagers on the platform.
* What is "Roblox"?
"Roblox" is an immersive gaming and creativity platform that launched in 2006 by David Baszucki and Erik Cassel, allowing users to explore thousands of mini-games or create their own games through the "Roblox Studio" tool.
But the platform is not just about games; it provides a comprehensive social experience, enabling users to make friends, communicate with game developers, and participate in developing new games, making it a vibrant and creative virtual environment.
* Numbers and Figures!
The platform's monthly user count has surpassed 214 million players, while it generates daily profits of nearly 7 million dollars.
On August 23, 2025, "Roblox" recorded the highest number of concurrent users worldwide, exceeding 47 million players, according to the "Rotrends" website.
* Why does everyone love it?
The magic of "Roblox", as described by PCMag, lies in its ability to unleash imagination and creativity, which has led global companies like Forever 21, Kellogg’s, Chipotle, and Sega to launch their own experiences on the platform to attract a gaming audience.
* The Risks Behind the Fame
Despite its massive popularity, "Roblox" faces international criticism and concerns, especially regarding the safety of children and teenagers, with ongoing lawsuits against it in the United States, and European authorities conducting investigations into the risks that minor users may face.
"Roblox" is a platform that allows you to play, create, and socialize, but at the same time, it presents governments with the challenge of regulating a safe virtual environment for children.
