Real Madrid assures its fans: Mbappe's injury is not serious

A renowned sports doctor announced that French star Kylian Mbappe's left knee injury is not serious and does not threaten his participation in the 2026 World Cup, expressing relief over the developments in his health condition.
Mbappe, who has been suffering from a "sprain in the outer ligament of the left knee" since the end of 2025, decided, in agreement with Real Madrid's management, to stay in Paris for several days to undergo an intensive treatment protocol, under the supervision of a French medical team and in coordination with the royal club's medical staff.
Dr. Pedro Luis Ripoll, close to Real Madrid, explained in an interview with the French network "RMC" that the injury is a "sprain in the posterior lateral corner of the knee with damage to the ligaments," confirming that "conservative treatment is sufficient and will allow the ligament to heal while strengthening the surrounding muscles, especially the quadriceps, to protect the joint."
Ripoll completely ruled out the need for surgery, noting that the strength of Mbappe's leg muscles provides significant protection for the joint, and that the player's stopping and returning is a "relatively common occurrence in sports medicine."
He added: "Based on the current data, I do not see Mbappe as a candidate for surgery," while praising Real Madrid's medical staff, describing it as "one of the best in the world."
Mbappe will miss some crucial matches in La Liga, and his status for the match against Manchester City on March 11 in the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16 is uncertain, but he is expected to return to the pitch in a "reasonable timeframe" either with the club or with the French national team.
