US Special Envoy to Syria, Thomas Barak, described Qatar's decision to fully fund supplying Syria with Azerbaijani natural gas as a "gesture of partnership and friendship," confirming that this step is an effective measure towards relief and stability in a "critical moment."

Barak posted this in a tweet today on the X platform, saying: "We express our sincere thanks to Qatar for fully funding the vital gas initiative for Syria," noting that starting from August 2, Azerbaijani natural gas coming through Turkey will provide Syria with an electricity capacity of up to 800 megawatts, illuminating 5 million homes.

The US envoy added: "It is an effective step towards relief and stability in a critical moment, and a bold gesture from Qatar and its leadership towards partnership and friendship."

On the other hand, the Qatar Development Fund announced in a statement yesterday the start of the second phase of supporting electrical energy in Syria as of the second day of this month, with a capacity of 800 megawatts, confirming "Qatar's commitment to supporting the Syrian people and enhancing their infrastructure."
