Putin Announces Russia's Solidarity with Iran and Calls for an End to Hostilities

Russian President Vladimir Putin held a phone call with his Iranian counterpart Masoud Bezhkishan, during which he confirmed Russia's full solidarity with Iran in light of recent events, expressing his deep condolences for the assassination of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and his family members, as well as the many civilian casualties resulting from the American-Israeli aggression against Iran, according to the Kremlin's press center on Friday from Moscow.
During the call, Putin emphasized the need for a swift end to hostilities in the Middle East and informed Bezhkishan about his communications with Arab leaders in the Gulf region, while the Iranian president thanked Russia for its supportive stance.
This comes as part of the strategic partnership between Russia and Iran that came into effect last year, which includes military and armament cooperation, but does not obligate either party to intervene if the other state is attacked.
In a related context, the British Prime Minister confirmed his country's support for Saudi Arabia against Iranian attacks, at a time when regional tensions have escalated, with Saudi Arabia intercepting 16 drones targeting the Shaybah oil field, while Washington plans to send a drone defense system to the region.
This development follows a wave of regional escalation and aggressions, making Putin's calls for a swift end to hostilities a pivotal step towards calming the situation in the Middle East.
