The Korean Central News Agency announced statements from North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, who confirmed yesterday, Saturday, that Pyongyang has allocated special strategic assets to respond to the increasing American military buildup in South Korea, pledging to take additional military measures without revealing details.
These statements came during a military exhibition held ahead of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Workers' Party of Korea, where Kim said: "In direct proportion to the American military buildup in the south, our strategic interest in the region has increased, and accordingly, we have allocated special assets for key objectives of importance."
The North Korean leader added, addressing his adversaries: "I believe our enemies should be concerned about the direction in which their security environment is developing."
These moves come amid strengthening military relations between North Korea and Russia, as Pyongyang supports the Russian army in its war with Ukraine by sending troops and artillery, according to South Korean officials.
Kim Jong Un has also strengthened his alliance with China through his recent visit to Beijing, where he participated in a massive military parade marking the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, alongside Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Kim Jong Un's statements and military escalation reflect the ongoing rising tensions on the Korean Peninsula amid the American military buildup in the south, opening the door to potential military moves in the near future.
