The spokesperson for the Israeli army, Avi Hayad, sparked widespread controversy after posting photos and videos documenting a field tour he conducted at a military site opposite the town of Khyam in southern Lebanon.
Hayad stated in a post on his social media accounts that he inspected the site accompanied by leaders and soldiers, discussing with them the security developments on the northern border, emphasizing that Israel will not allow any armed threats to be established near its borders after the "Northern Swords" operation.
In response, the Lebanese Prime Minister, Nawaf Salam, considered the Israeli step a "blatant provocation and renewed aggression," affirming Lebanon's commitment to implementing international resolutions and asserting the state's authority over its territories through the Lebanese army.
Salam called on the international community to "take urgent action to pressure Israel for a complete withdrawal from the Lebanese territories it still occupies, and to stop its land, sea, and air assaults," stressing that the continuation of these violations threatens stability in the south.
