Egyptian star Mohamed Salah, player for Liverpool FC, revealed intriguing details about his relationship with his former Senegalese teammate Sadio Mane, who currently plays for Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia, confirming that it was not smooth off the field despite their great harmony on the pitch. Salah explained that there was "tension" in their relationship during their time playing together, but it did not affect their performance or the team's success, emphasizing that professional respect remained between them until the end. In an interview with the French newspaper "L'Equipe," Salah pointed out that Mane was a fierce competitor, which is natural in a professional environment that always aims for victory. He added: "We were not close off the field, but we respected each other. I always sought the team's success, and my conscience is clear despite the accusations of selfishness that were directed at me." Regarding the criticisms that followed him, especially after rumors circulated about Mane's displeasure with Salah not passing the ball to him on several occasions, Salah said: "I don't pay much attention to what is said. Some choose to believe what suits them, but the truth is that I assisted Mane in scoring goals more than once. People can check the statistics." One of the most tense moments between the two stars dates back to 2019, in a match between Liverpool and Burnley, when Mane openly showed his anger after being substituted due to Salah not passing him the ball while he was in a scoring position. An old statement by former star Michael Owen also sparked controversy in 2021 when he mentioned that Mane was avoiding falling inside the penalty area to prevent Salah from getting penalties that could help him win the Golden Boot. Despite these tensions, the duo, along with Brazilian Firmino, formed a terrifying trio in the English Premier League, contributing together to Liverpool's achievement of prominent titles, most notably the Champions League and the domestic league, leaving their impact engraved in the memory of the "Reds" fans.
