Mohamed Nagaty Refuses to Dramatically Portray Ahmed Zaki's Biography: "Exaggeration Could Do Him Injustice"

In a surprising statement, Egyptian artist Mohamed Nagaty refused to discuss his recent crisis with his colleague Mona Arafa, saying emphatically: "I swear I won't answer that question, the matter is over."
Nagaty added during his appearance on the program "Red Line" on "Al-Hadath Al-Youm" channel on Sunday, February 23, 2026: "I will not spend my entire life preoccupied with this story," pointing out that he has vowed not to return to discuss this topic again, affirming: "I swore I wouldn't talk about it at all."
Regarding the dramatic trend towards portraying the biography of the late artist Ahmed Zaki, Nagaty expressed his complete rejection of this idea, explaining that it is a very difficult matter that requires precision and neutrality, so it does not turn into a personal opinion that might stir controversy.
He noted that dramatic works that present the biographies of deceased characters might do them injustice, as they are presented from the perspective of the creators, which may lead to exaggeration or underestimation of the character.
Nagaty added that the late Ahmed Zaki is "present through his immortal works" and does not need a dramatic portrayal, affirming that the best solution in his opinion is to present documentaries that shed light on his artistic journey more objectively, away from bias or personal interpretations.
Thus, Mohamed Nagaty sparked new controversy with his decisive statements about his personal crisis with Mona Arafa, and his viewpoint on the idea of presenting Ahmed Zaki's biography in a dramatic work, placing him back in the spotlight and making us wonder about the reason for this frankness and boldness displayed by art figures these days.
