The famous Iraqi comedy series "Hamid Helou" faced widespread criticism in its seventh season after airing a segment involving a cosmetic doctor selling her products in a humorous way while selling vegetables, which sparked a debate about the originality of the idea.
Accusations of Copying from a Local Program
Artist Hassan Hantoush accused the creators of the show of plagiarizing an entire segment from his comedy program "Makhlama," which aired months ago on the OF TV platform and Dijlah TV channel, asserting that there is a significant resemblance between the character Azhar in "Hamid Helou" and the character Kifah the Bandaged in his program.
Personal Criticism from the Beauty World
Iraqi doctor Haifa Sahi expressed her dissatisfaction with the episode, considering that some of the comedic character's words were a direct insult to her, especially regarding cosmetic injections.
Ongoing Iraqi Comedy
"Hamid Helou" continues to provide daily doses of humor inspired by Iraqi reality, directed by Osama Al-Sharqi, written by a team of writers, and featuring a select group of Iraqi artists, including Ihsan Dadoush, Mohammed Hussein Abdul Rahim, Ali Jaber, Ali Al-Malak, Rafal Nashmi, Nariman Al-Sabouri, and Hassan Kamel.
The debate over plagiarism and artistic issues remains part of the discussions surrounding Iraqi comedy, at a time when the television scene is thriving with a large number of new comedic works.
