Argentinian star Lionel Messi led his team Inter Miami to their first appearance in the final of the American soccer league, after a crushing victory over New York City FC with a score of 5-1, in a decisive match in the Eastern Conference final held early Sunday at the “Chase” stadium in Fort Lauderdale.

Inter Miami showcased a remarkable offensive performance, with Argentine Tadeo Allende scoring a stunning hat-trick, and Matteo Silvetti adding another goal, while Venezuelan Tilasco Segovia scored another, culminating in a historic victory that granted the team the title of Eastern Conference champions, along with a ticket to the big final.

Although Messi, aged 38, did not score in this match, his influence was strongly felt through a magical assist that contributed to the third goal, a goal that effectively ended any hope for New York City to return to the match.

With this assist, the “little flea” raised his tally to 405 assists in his professional career spanning 1136 matches, taking the lead in the list of the most assists in football history, surpassing Hungarian legend Ferenc Puskás (404 assists) and Brazilian Pelé (369 assists).

This title represents Messi's third trophy with Inter Miami since joining the team in 2023, continuing to write new chapters of achievements even in his later years on the pitch.

Inter Miami is set to host the Vancouver Whitecaps in the final match next Saturday, after the Canadian team secured their spot following a 3-1 victory over San Diego in the Western Conference final, in a match led by former German star Thomas Müller.
