Minister of Information, Dr. Hamza Mustafa, affirmed during his meeting with the French Ambassador in Damascus, Jean Batiste Veyr, the ministry's keenness to benefit from the French experience in developing Syrian media, especially in technical fields and implementing best media practices, in addition to enhancing cooperation in the cinema sector. The minister pointed out that the ministry's strategy focuses on building an independent and friendly journalistic media environment, investing in real information, and staying away from propaganda, while establishing a competitive national media in the news sector. Mustafa explained that the ministry is currently working on preparing a code of media ethics in collaboration with all media professionals, aiming to enhance adherence to professional standards, expressing hope to benefit from the French experience in this field. The minister also discussed the ministry's efforts in supporting press freedom and expanding cooperation with international media by updating media licensing standards and adopting mechanisms to reduce previous restrictions that hindered the work of Arab and international media in Syria. On his part, the French Ambassador expressed his country's readiness to provide media support, confirming the readiness of French media to provide advanced training for Syrian journalists. The Minister of Information concluded by thanking the French government for its efforts in facilitating the lifting of European sanctions on the Syrian people, emphasizing that media cooperation with France is an important step in supporting projects to enhance Syrian media in the future.
