Kurdistan Denies Rumors of Military Movement Towards Iran Amid Iranian Airstrikes

Senior officials in the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq denied all reports this Thursday morning, March 5, 2026, regarding the crossing of Iraqi Kurdish citizens into Iran or the commencement of any Kurdish ground operation at the border.
Aziz Ahmed, Deputy Director of the Office of the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, described the rumors on X platform as "untrue," affirming that no Iraqi Kurd has crossed the Iranian border.
In the same context, a commander in the Kurdish forces stated:
"We are prepared for all possibilities and our hands are free, but so far no force from our side has entered Iran, and the published news in this regard is incorrect."
The Operations Room of the Kurdistan Freedom Party also confirmed that the rumors about sending Kurdish forces to Iran are mere lies, while the "Khabat" organization described the news as "far from the truth" and urged citizens not to fall for misinformation and to seek information only from official sources.
Meanwhile, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard announced that it targeted what it described as "hostile groups" in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, using 30 drones to destroy their positions, according to the semi-official Tasnim news agency, while two Kurdish groups confirmed to CNN the occurrence of the attacks.
At the same time, an Iranian security source denied all Western reports about the entry of armed Kurds to initiate a ground operation, considering that the U.S. and Israel are trying to undermine the morale of Iranians through "psychological warfare," affirming that security prevails along the border with Iraq and that military and security forces are defending Iran's territory vigorously.
The source emphasized that there is no need to worry about these psychological operations, urging citizens to follow news only from reliable media sources.
