Khalil Al-Hayya: Hamas Delegation in Sharm El-Sheikh Seeks to End the War and Exchange Prisoners

Khalil Al-Hayya, head of the Hamas delegation in the negotiations to cease the war on Gaza, confirmed that the delegation headed to the Egyptian city of Sharm El-Sheikh to participate in "serious and responsible" negotiations aimed at stopping the Israeli war against the Palestinian people.
Al-Hayya stated that the movement's delegation came to the negotiations carrying the "concerns and pains of the Palestinian people," pointing out that the war, which lasted for two years, resulted in a large number of martyrs and widespread destruction of infrastructure in the sector.
He clarified that Hamas seeks through these negotiations to achieve a comprehensive ceasefire, the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip, in addition to completing a prisoner exchange deal that includes all prisoners from both sides, according to a plan presented at the negotiating table.
Al-Hayya added that the Palestinian delegation came to the discussions carrying the "aspirations of the Palestinian people for stability, freedom, and the establishment of their independent state," noting the movement's appreciation for the Arab, Islamic, and international efforts made to end the war, including the American role in supporting the political track.
He expressed his regret for the continued shelling and destruction in some areas of the sector, especially in northern Gaza, despite the movement's readiness to engage positively with the proposed suggestions, affirming that Hamas is "ready to fully assume its responsibilities to end the war and ensure it does not recur," within the framework of international guarantees from the countries sponsoring the negotiations.
