The "Al-Masirah" channel affiliated with the Houthi group reported on Wednesday that Israeli airstrikes targeted the Yemeni capital, Sana'a, in a new development within the ongoing confrontation for months between the Iran-backed Houthis and Israel, amid the war in Gaza.
According to the channel, this attack is the first of its kind since the airstrikes that occurred on August 28, which resulted in the death of the Houthi government head and several of its members. Field sources confirmed that the shelling targeted the Al-Hazm district in Al-Jawf governorate, where the government complex and other civilian sites were targeted.
In a military statement, a spokesperson for the Houthis announced that Yemeni air defenses repelled the Israeli attack, indicating that the hostile aircraft faced resistance in the skies of Sana'a and Al-Jawf.
Media reports indicate that the airstrikes targeted missile launch platforms and military and media headquarters belonging to the Houthis, in addition to fuel storage facilities and medical facilities, amid escalating regional tensions and exchanges of strikes between the two parties.
