Israeli Airstrikes on Ain al-Hilweh Camp in Lebanon

The Ain al-Hilweh Palestinian refugee camp in Sidon, southern Lebanon, the largest Palestinian camp in the country, witnessed two Israeli airstrikes on Sunday morning, according to the Lebanese National News Agency.
The strikes occurred amid intense flying of warplanes, while no accurate information has yet been recorded about casualties or injuries, or about the targeted individuals inside the camp.
In the same context of escalation, Israel targeted the Ramada Hotel on the Beirut waterfront early Sunday, resulting in the death of four people and injuring ten others, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Health.
The Israeli army confirmed that the strike was a “precision-guided blow” aimed at central leaders in the Lebanon Corps of the Quds Force of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard who were present in Beirut.
This escalation comes after confrontations that began last Monday when Hezbollah fired rockets and drones towards Israel, prompting the latter to respond with a wave of extensive airstrikes on southern Lebanese areas, as well as the southern suburbs of Beirut.
Israel also announced last Tuesday that it had killed the liaison officer responsible for Lebanon in the external operations force of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard in Tehran.
In response, the Lebanese government issued a decision last Thursday banning any activities of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard on its territory and requiring a visa to enter the country, amid rising tensions between Hezbollah, backed by Iran, and Israel since the beginning of the confrontations.
This new escalation reflects the ongoing state of severe tension between Israel and Hezbollah, amid fears of the military operations expanding to new areas in Lebanon.
