The Israeli forces took control of the Libyan ship "Omar Mukhtar" this Thursday morning, which was heading to the Gaza Strip as part of the global resilience fleet aimed at breaking the siege imposed on the region.
The British legal company assigned to follow up on the case reported that the activists on board the ship were taken to one of the occupied Palestinian ports, in preparation for meeting with the legal team. Sources indicated that they are likely to be detained for an additional day before being released and deported within 48 hours, according to the applicable legal procedures.
In the capital, Tripoli, the ship's coordination announced a press conference at six o'clock in the evening in Algeria Square, to clarify the latest developments and reveal the results of the legal actions regarding the detainees.
The coordination also broadcast a video of British journalist and activist Dr. Yvonne Ridley, in which she explained that the passengers of the ship "were kidnapped by the Israeli occupation forces," emphasizing that their goal was to open a humanitarian corridor to deliver medical and food aid to the Palestinians. Ridley stressed that the participants in the trip are "human rights activists" and have no connection to terrorism, calling on public opinion and international parliaments to take urgent action for their release.
