Iraqi Interior Ministry: Foiling the smuggling of large quantities of Captagon across the border with Syria.

Iraqi border forces foiled an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of drugs across the Euphrates River in a border area with Syria.
The Iraqi Ministry of Interior announced the seizure of 400,000 pills of "Captagon" hidden inside tightly sealed plastic containers during a precise security operation.
A statement from the ministry's spokesperson indicated that the operation was a result of careful monitoring using thermal cameras, enabling the "Border Guards Brigade" to intercept the smuggled shipment in the Baghouz area on the Iraqi-Syrian border.
The statement added that the confiscated items were handed over to the relevant authorities, with all necessary legal measures taken.
The Baghouz area, located in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, is a sensitive border point witnessing intense security activities by the Syrian Democratic Forces, connecting Iraq through the river crossing between Al-Bukamal and Baghouz.
