The special envoy of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) to Sudan, Ismail Wais, stated today, Friday, that the launch of any political process in the country remains impossible as long as the ongoing war continues.
Wais explained in statements to Al Jazeera that IGAD's efforts are currently focused on advancing the peace process, improving the humanitarian situation, and facilitating aid access for those affected. He welcomed Khartoum's return to the organization, considering that this step will enhance the chances of reaching a settlement.
He pointed out the importance of coordinating efforts with international organizations through a unified roadmap to ensure the effectiveness of initiatives aimed at ending the conflict and supporting stability in Sudan.
