The Family of Ibrahim Shika Investigates: Did the Deceased Player Have His Organs Stolen?

The lawyer representing the family of former Zamalek player, Ibrahim Shika, filed an urgent complaint to the Attorney General requesting an investigation into criminal suspicions related to human organ trafficking, following allegations of organs being removed from the body of the deceased player.
The lawyer stated, in remarks to Cairo 24, that the investigative authorities referred the complaint to the Tonfa Appeals Prosecution to begin the investigations, explaining that he attended alongside Shika's mother and his brother Khaled to take the first steps in gathering information.
He added that the investigations currently include collecting evidence and clues to verify the accuracy of the circulating allegations, in preparation for confronting the parties being complained against, foremost among them the widow of the deceased.
Rumors had spread on social media about organs being removed from Shika's body, specifically the kidneys and a lobe of the liver, for the purpose of trafficking them, which sparked widespread controversy in sports and public circles.
It is noted that Ibrahim Shika, who passed away in April 2025 at the age of 28, was one of the prominent youth players of Zamalek, before gradually stepping away from the fields after being diagnosed with rectal cancer, as his health deteriorated in late 2024 until he passed away after a long battle with the illness.
