The German coach Hansi Flick intervened quickly before the match between Barcelona and Newcastle United to save a child who was stuck among the crowds outside the stadium gates during their UEFA Champions League 2025-2026 encounter.

The Incident Before the Match

A video circulating on social media showed Hansi Flick running towards the barriers after noticing that a child was unable to move amid the large crowd gathered outside the stadium to get his autograph.

Flick quickly intervened to try to protect the child from any harm, with the help of security personnel, and managed to embrace the child and ensure his safety before security took him back to a safe place behind the barriers.

Newcastle hosted Barcelona at St. James' Park for the first leg of the Round of 16.

Harvey Barnes scored the opening goal for Newcastle in the 86th minute.

Barcelona was awarded a penalty in the final moments, successfully executed by Lamine Yamal to equalize for the Catalan team at 1-1.
