Gaza Government: The Red Cross's Suspension of Operations in the City is a Catastrophic Decision and Contradicts International Law

The Gaza government described the International Committee of the Red Cross's decision to suspend its operations in Gaza City as "catastrophic, dangerous, and inhumane," emphasizing that the step contradicts the principles of international humanitarian law and exacerbates the suffering of the population under deteriorating humanitarian conditions.

In an urgent statement on Monday, the government called on the International Committee to immediately retract the decision, stressing that the continued operation of the Red Cross in Gaza is a pressing humanitarian necessity, especially in light of the siege and destruction the city has been suffering for months.

The statement confirmed that the suspension of humanitarian activities in Gaza is an unjustified bias and weakens the ability of local institutions to respond to the needs of the population, calling on the international community to pressure for the reactivation of humanitarian organizations in the sector without political conditions.
