The U.S. Central Command announced on Thursday that a fire broke out on board the USS Gerald R. Ford while it was in the Red Sea, confirming that the incident was not related to any combat action.
The Central Command explained that emergency teams on board the carrier were able to control the fire quickly, noting that two sailors were injured as a result of the incident without significant damage to the ship.
It added that the propulsion system of the aircraft carrier was not damaged by the fire, confirming that the carrier continues its operations in the Red Sea.
According to the statement, the American aircraft carrier is currently supporting Operation "Epic Fury" as part of ongoing military operations in the region.
