Fidan: Turkey joins an international group to oversee the implementation of the Gaza agreement

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan announced that his country will participate alongside the United States, Qatar, and Egypt in the special working group that will oversee the implementation of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip and follow up on mediation efforts between the Palestinian and Israeli sides.
Fidan stated in remarks to the Turkish press from Paris after a meeting dedicated to discussing the Gaza file that "the working group referred to by President Erdogan will carry out the approved settlement plan for Gaza," explaining that the agreement stipulates that "the United States, Egypt, Turkey, and Qatar" will form a team to monitor the agreed commitments and play the role of mediator in case of any disputes.
The Turkish minister added that the group "currently does not have any predefined tasks," but it "will intervene when any problems arise during the implementation of the agreement, to provide practical solutions that ensure the continuation of the truce."
Earlier, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced his country's joining of the multinational security force that will be formed to ensure security in the sector, as part of U.S. President Donald Trump's plan to stop the war in Gaza.
The plan includes forming a force from the United States, Turkey, Egypt, and Qatar, along with international monitors, to oversee the withdrawal of the Israeli army from Gaza and ensure that fighting does not resume, monitor the redeployment of Palestinian forces, in addition to securing the entry of humanitarian aid and starting the reconstruction of the destroyed infrastructure.
The plan aims, according to Washington, to create a stable environment in preparation for launching a comprehensive political process under U.S. and international sponsorship, for a permanent settlement of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
The force is expected to begin its work after the ceasefire is firmly established, to be deployed at specific points within the sector in coordination with the United Nations and the Palestinian Authority.
