Europe has committed to the United States to completely stop importing Russian gas by 2027

U.S. Energy Secretary Christopher Wright announced that the United States has received a commitment from European countries to a complete halt of Russian gas imports by January 1, 2027.
Wright said in an interview with CNBC: "They have clearly stated that they will completely stop importing Russian gas in any form by the end of 2026. Until the end of this year, it is still possible to purchase Russian gas through spot contracts or contracts for 2026, but starting January 1, 2027, no Russian gas will be purchased thereafter."
The U.S. Secretary added that the United States intends to increase liquefied natural gas exports to European markets to compensate for the expected decline in Russian gas imports.
