Elon Musk Surpasses $800 Billion After Historic Deal Between SpaceX and xAI

In a new record added to his achievements, Elon Musk became the first person in history to surpass a net worth of $800 billion, after his rocket company SpaceX completed its acquisition of the artificial intelligence and social media company xAI, which he also owns.
According to Forbes estimates, the deal, which valued the combined entity at $1.25 trillion, raised Musk's wealth to $852 billion, making SpaceX the most valuable asset in his portfolio by a significant margin.
Before the merger, Musk owned about 42% of SpaceX shares worth approximately $336 billion, based on a previous buyout offer that valued the company at $800 billion.
His stake in xAI was also around 49%, valued at $122 billion, following a funding round that valued the company at $250 billion earlier that same month.
After the merger, Musk's stake in the combined company became 43%, valued at about $542 billion.
Musk also holds a 12% stake in Tesla worth $178 billion, in addition to stock options valued at $124 billion.
These estimates do not include the standard compensations that could grant Musk up to an additional $1 trillion if Tesla achieves its ambitious goals, including increasing its market value more than eight times over the next decade.
It is noted that this deal represents the second time in less than a year that Musk has merged two of his companies;
in March, xAI merged with the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), in a deal that valued xAI at $80 billion and X at $33 billion, a figure close to what he paid to acquire Twitter in 2022.
In just four months, Musk achieved four record milestones in his net worth:
• October: Surpassed $500 billion.
• December 15: Surpassed $600 billion after private investors valued SpaceX at $800 billion.
• Four days later: Surpassed $700 billion following the Supreme Court's decision to reactivate Tesla stock options.
Thus, Musk became richer than the second richest person in the world, Larry Page, by $578 billion, as the latter's wealth is estimated at around $281 billion, and he is now only a "half of Larry Page" away from the title of the first trillionaire.
