Dubai Police announced the arrest of a gang consisting of three individuals (two of Arab nationality and one of Asian nationality), after they attempted to smuggle 89,760 Captagon pills hidden inside clothing buttons.

The police stated that the value of the seized items is estimated at around 4.5 million dirhams, explaining that the operation came in coordination with the General Directorate for Drug Control in Saudi Arabia, before the quantity was smuggled outside the country.

Operation Details

Dubai Police named the operation "Toxic Buttons," indicating that it began after receiving accurate information about a criminal network within the country preparing to receive drugs and re-smuggle them under the direction of its leader residing outside the country.

It added that the specialized teams set the "zero hour" to raid the apartment where the drugs were hidden, leading to the arrest of the suspects and the revelation of the meticulous concealment method inside the buttons.

Dubai Police confirmed that this operation is part of ongoing efforts to combat drug smuggling and trafficking, and to protect the community from its dangers, emphasizing the importance of enhancing international cooperation in combating organized crime networks.
