Disaster in Tripoli: Residential Building Collapses with Families Trapped Under Rubble

The Bab al-Tabbaneh area in the city of Tripoli, northern Lebanon, witnessed a sudden collapse of a five-story residential building, resulting in several residents being lost under the debris.
Civil defense teams, the Red Cross, and local residents continue search and rescue operations amidst urgent calls for intervention, while the Lebanese Army and the Commando Regiment are working to control the situation and prevent citizens from approaching, ensuring the safety of rescue teams.
So far, 8 people have been rescued alive, while 5 victims, including a child and an elderly woman, have been pulled from under the rubble.
The collapsed building housed at least two families, while evacuation operations for nearby buildings continued due to fears of their collapse, amidst reports of heavy gunfire whose source remains unknown in the vicinity of the building.
Fires also broke out around the collapsed building, prompting firefighting teams to intervene immediately, in cooperation with residents, to try to control the situation and facilitate rescue operations.
