The Directorate of Old Damascus City confirmed in a clarifying statement that the recent closures of several tourist and commercial establishments were a result of legal violations, denying any intention to stop night activities or impose security measures, emphasizing that these actions are limited to enforcing regulations on violators only.

The statement explained that inspection tours revealed violations including "operating without a license, or violating the conditions of granted licenses, especially in terms of activity, safety, and expansion," stressing that the closures targeted specific establishments only, "and are not related to comprehensive decisions or new directives for closure."

The governorate denied the accuracy of media reports regarding the existence of official decisions or security interventions, indicating that "all measures were taken within the legal powers granted to regulatory authorities," and were carried out "under the exclusive supervision of the competent authorities, and in accordance with legal frameworks."

It also called on the media and citizens to "exercise accuracy and refrain from spreading rumors that may affect the stability of tourism and economic activities," reaffirming its commitment to "support tourism and commercial activities in Old Damascus in line with the historical character of the area and safety standards."

The statement concluded by emphasizing the importance of "sourcing information from official channels," while the city continues to witness normal tourism and commercial activities outside the scope of the violating establishments.
