The body of Syrian journalist Mohammed Khayata was found murdered in Qalamoun days after his disappearance.

The body of the Syrian journalist and media figure, Mohammed Khayata (36 years old), was found in a remote area near the city of Jairoud in Qalamoun, after he had gone missing on May 8th, according to local media sources.
Khayata's disappearance, known as "Abu Fuad," had caused widespread concern among his colleagues and family, prompting the Ministry of Information to issue a statement expressing its "grave concern," confirming its coordination with the relevant authorities on the matter.
The ministry also called for "enhancing cooperation and intensifying efforts to uncover the truth and ensure his safe return," emphasizing the "necessity of resolving this issue in a manner befitting the status of journalists and their national role."
Dozens of journalists and activists mourned Khayata on social media platforms, expressing their "deep sadness" over his death "in this tragic manner," while recalling his high ethics and professional contributions.
His colleagues described him as having "left a positive impact in his media and social circle," praising his dedication to journalism during the years of the Syrian revolution, whether through field coverage or talk shows.
Khayata, hailing from the city of Douma in the Damascus countryside, was known for his extensive activity in the field of media and design, leaving a "distinct mark" in his work, as mentioned by those close to him.
