Local sources in Karbala province reported on Saturday evening that a part of the Al-Atyshi bridge near the Baghdad Gate entrance collapsed, resulting in the death of 3 people and serious injuries to 6 others, who were transported to the hospital for treatment.

The Vice President of the Karbala Provincial Council stated that the bridge, which connects the Karbala road to the capital Baghdad, is still under construction and has not yet been opened, confirming that authorities will launch an urgent investigation to determine the causes of the collapse.

For its part, the Civil Defense Directorate clarified that its teams continue debris removal operations at the site in search of potential trapped individuals, while the final toll of victims has not yet been announced.
