Bin Farhan and Tom Brack are exploring ways to support Syria economically and humanitarianly.

Saudi Arabia is rapidly moving towards Damascus, as the Saudi Crown Prince has opened direct communication channels with the new Syrian President Ahmed Al-Sharaa, followed by mutual official visits between the two sides. This rapprochement has led to the convening of an international conference in Riyadh at the beginning of 2025, outlining a comprehensive roadmap for the reconstruction of Syria with extensive Arab and international support.
In the context of these efforts, Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan discussed with Washington's envoy to Damascus, Tom Barak, support for Syria economically and humanitarianly.
This came during a phone call received by bin Farhan from Barak, according to a statement from the Saudi Foreign Ministry.
The statement indicated that "steps to support Syria on both economic and humanitarian levels were discussed, in addition to discussing regional developments and their implications on the region."
