In one of the largest fraud cases witnessed in Egypt, security authorities managed to arrest Mohamed Adel, known in the media as the "Restaurant Blogger", after he collected millions of pounds from citizens under the guise of investing in the restaurant sector, before fleeing abroad.
Mohamed Adel exploited the trust of more than 150 citizens, deceiving them into believing that he would invest their money in purchasing and managing major brands in Egypt and abroad, promising returns of profits reaching 60%.
He succeeded in collecting more than 50 million pounds from his victims through these lies, in addition to attracting astronomical amounts from members of the Egyptian communities abroad, claiming to expand in the restaurant field.
Social media circulated warnings against dealing with the "Restaurant Blogger", and images and videos of him showcasing a luxurious lifestyle with lavish limousine cars outside Egypt spread, increasing public anger demanding his swift arrest.
The Ministry of Interior clarified in an official statement that Mohamed Adel was wanted for executing 11 court rulings against him, with total prison terms exceeding 16 years and 8 months.
The statement also confirmed that the accused owns a company managing a group of restaurants, and legal actions have been taken, as he was presented to the public prosecution to complete the investigations.
This case highlights the danger of falling into the trap of false investment promises, urging everyone to exercise caution and verify before investing their money in any project.
