Al-Ahli Aleppo Returns to the Syrian Premier League Throne After a Twenty-Year Absence

Al-Ahli Aleppo clinched the title of the Syrian Premier League for the 2024-2025 season, surpassing their traditional rival Al-Karamah with two clean goals in the decisive match of the play-offs, securing their seventh title in history after an exceptional season filled with challenges.

The stadium witnessed a grand celebration of the team's victory, as the Syrian Minister of Sports and Youth, Mohammed Sameh Hamad, presented the championship shield to the players and coaching staff amidst overwhelming joy that brought together different generations of the club's fans, who had been waiting for this title since their last victory in the 2004-2005 season.

Al-Ahli's triumph came as a result of a successful performance in the play-offs, where they managed to collect 9 points to top the standings, while Al-Karamah settled for second place with 7 points after their crucial loss. Al-Hurriya, on the other hand, secured the third spot, tied on points with Al-Karamah but with a goal difference, following their significant victory over Al-Wahda who finished in fourth place.

This achievement brings Al-Ahli Aleppo back to the forefront of Syrian football competition, opening a new chapter of aspirations for its fans who look forward to continuing their title-winning streak in the upcoming seasons.

In a related context, the Ministry of Sports and Youth continues its efforts to develop Syrian sports, announcing its plans to transform clubs into independent economic entities, aiming to enhance infrastructure, elevate management standards, and improve technical competencies.

Furthermore, the sports sector witnessed another development with the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the ministry and Matchworld Group from Qatar to enhance innovation and sports marketing, in line with their strategic partnerships that support local sports.

It is worth noting that these advancements come after the establishment of the Ministry of Sports and Youth, replacing the General Sports Federation, in a structural step aimed at bringing about a qualitative shift in the management of Syrian sports after decades of operating under the old centralized system.
