Al-Silawi Breaks His Silence with a New Video After Controversial Statements

New Video Released and Initial Reaction from Hossam Al-Silawi
In his first appearance after the widespread controversy that followed his recent statements, which led to a security order for his arrest upon returning to Jordan, Jordanian artist Hossam Al-Silawi posted a new video via the "Story" feature on his Instagram account, clarifying his position on what has been circulated regarding his statements related to Islam, in addition to responding to his father's announcement of disowning him.
Al-Silawi: The Circulated Videos Were Taken Out of Context
Al-Silawi clarified that the clips that spread from his speech were not complete, indicating that parts of them were cut and taken out of their true context, which led to a misunderstanding and caused the widespread controversy surrounding his statements.
Criticism of Content Creators and Exploiting the Crisis
Al-Silawi also criticized some content creators on social media, considering that they exploited the current crisis to increase engagement and views, instead of conveying the full picture or verifying the accuracy of what is being circulated.
Affirmation of Islamic Belief and Denial of Rumors
The Jordanian artist affirmed his adherence to his Islamic faith, denying rumors that questioned his belief or religious affiliation, emphasizing that he is a Muslim and believes in all heavenly religions, in an attempt to clarify his position regarding the controversy surrounding him.
Emotional Family Messages to His Mother and Father
Al-Silawi sent an emotional thank-you message to his mother, praising her support during the crisis, and confirming that she was the first to contact him, which alleviated much of the psychological pressure he experienced.
In contrast, he spoke about his father, who had announced disowning him before later retracting, stating: “I thank my father for disowning me,” adding that his father did not teach him right from wrong adequately.
Post on Instagram: “I Am My Own Guide, and That’s Why I Make Mistakes”
Al-Silawi also wrote via the "Story" feature on Instagram:
“God bears witness that I am my own guide, and that’s why I make mistakes. Instead of sending me a message to guide me, you disown me and post a story about me.”
Personal Suffering and Being Deprived of Seeing Family and Daughter
Al-Silawi also revealed that he has been prevented from seeing his siblings for several months, which has increased his feelings of psychological pain, expressing hope that he can embrace his daughter again.
He also noted that his daughter and her mother are currently in Lebanon, complicating his family and personal situation during this phase.
Admission of Mistake and Clarification of His Position on the Crisis
Al-Silawi concluded his remarks by affirming that he made a mistake in the way he expressed himself without intending to offend, expressing confidence that the truth will soon be revealed, indicating that what happened was a result of misunderstanding and an incomplete context for the statements.
Background of the Crisis and Legal Investigations Against Him
It is worth mentioning that Hossam Al-Silawi topped social media platforms after statements that sparked widespread controversy regarding Islam and the prophets, leading to a wave of anger and calls for accountability.
The Jordanian security agencies also intervened in the crisis, as an official order was issued for his arrest upon his return to Jordan, amid accusations of contempt of religionsand inciting sedition and insulting the prophets, under Article 273 of the Penal Code, which stipulates a prison sentence of one to three years for anyone proven to have “publicly insulted the prophets' religious authorities.”
