On the humanitarian side, health conditions in the country are deteriorating, as the Federal Emergency Center of the Sudanese Ministry of Health announced the registration of more than 1300 cases of dengue fever within just one week, in five states, including the capital Khartoum.

This escalation comes at a time when the country is suffering from a devastating war that erupted in mid-April 2023 between the Sudanese army and the 'Rapid Support' forces, resulting in more than 20,000 deaths according to estimates from the United Nations and local authorities.
A study conducted by American universities estimated the death toll at around 130,000 people.
