A New Novel by Ibrahim Eissa Reveals the Artistic Biography of Amr Diab

The Egyptian writer Ibrahim Eissa has released his latest novel titled "Amr... Where There is Solitude," in which he presents for the first time the literary biography of the Egyptian star Amr Diab, in a work that combines narrative storytelling with historical, social, and artistic dimensions.
The novel, which Eissa considers an exceptional project, came after more than 16 hours of recordings and conversations with Amr Diab, in which the artist discussed his upbringing, beginnings, and artistic journey. Eissa believes that these recordings represent rich material that deserves to be presented in a literary work that delves into the journey of one of the most prominent symbols of Arabic music.
The project initially started as an idea for a television series, before Amr Diab suggested that his story be crafted first into a literary novel that would serve as the primary reference for the dramatic work, which Ibrahim Eissa welcomed, considering that this proposal reflects Diab's appreciation for the value of written text and its role in shaping artistic work.
Eissa confirms that the novel represents the first Arabic literary work documenting the life of an artist in a complete narrative form, away from memoirs or journalistic writings that have previously addressed the lives of artists.
The novel showcases the modern history of Egypt through Amr Diab's journey, starting from his upbringing in Port Said during the era of President Gamal Abdel Nasser, through the June 1967 War, then his youth during the eras of Sadat and Mubarak, culminating in his rise on Pyramids Street and the beginning of his journey towards global recognition. It also addresses the musical evolution that Diab brought about, in addition to human and intellectual details mentioned in his recordings with the writer.
