Zelensky Warns: The Situation at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant is Extremely Dangerous

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warned that the situation at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, occupied by Russian forces, has become extremely dangerous, after Russian shelling halted efforts to restore external power lines to the plant.
Zelensky explained in his nightly address via video link that one of the backup diesel generators providing emergency power has failed, following seven days of external power line outages.
The Ukrainian president said: "We are on day seven. The Zaporizhzhia plant has never experienced an emergency like this. The situation is extremely dangerous. Russian shelling has disconnected the plant from the power grid."
He added: "We now have information that one of the diesel generators has stopped working," warning of worsening nuclear risks if the outage continues and the plant is subjected to further shelling.
