The Yemeni Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Friday evening the resumption of official work at the Embassy of the Republic of Yemen in Syria starting from Sunday, April 27, 2025, in a move described as a "historical and pivotal diplomatic moment" reflecting the depth of the bilateral relations between the two countries.

This came in an official statement published by the ministry on its "X" platform, confirming that the decision to resume work was in line with the directives of the Yemeni Foreign Minister Shai'a Mohsen Al-Zindani and his Syrian counterpart Asaad Al-Shibani, reflecting the historical and distinguished ties between the two countries.

The Yemeni Foreign Ministry revealed the appointment of Counselor Mohammed Azeeb Baakir as Charge d'Affaires ad interim, emphasizing that the return of the embassy to its functions signifies a declaration of "the presence of the state and its legitimate institutions, and the disappearance of deviant and subversive projects," clearly referring to the control of the Houthi group over the embassy premises since 2016 with the support of the previous Syrian regime.

The statement indicated that this step opens up new horizons for bilateral cooperation between Sana'a and Damascus in political, economic, and cultural fields, expressing Yemen's aspiration to enhance the partnership with Syria for the benefit of both brotherly peoples.
